Police search for suspect after shots fired near Arundel Mills mall area

Anne Arundel County police said they continued to look for a suspect they believe was involved in a shooting Tuesday morning outside a pet store near the Arundel Mills shopping complex.
The incident began just before 8 a.m. in the 7000 block of Arundel Mills Circle when police said they received reports of shots being fired outside a PetSmart store there.
Lt. T.J. Smith, a spokesman for the police, said that a man told authorities he was leaving the Costco gas station in that area and turned onto Arundel Mills Boulevard when another person allegedly shot at him from another car. Police said the victim said he did not know the gunman and that the suspect remains at large.
The victim is said to be uninjured and didn’t need medical attention, according to Smith. The victim may have been either grazed by a bullet or struck by glass from a broken car window, according to police.
As the incident unfolded, police closed off roads in the area and said they were interviewing witnesses and searching the area for suspects and potential evidence.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-222-6155.
